Chapter 7

Echo deposited her meager offering of clams and an eel to her family and went directly to her cave crevice to sleep. She's barely slept since she met Anna, and she can feel exhaustion clawing at her.

She's not sure if she'll fall asleep easily, but she blinks, and the light has changed severely. She must have fallen asleep.

The light they get from the sun in their deep cave is only perceptible for the creatures who live here. The sun is gone, and Echo has slept through the whole day. She feels rested as she sneaks out without waking her family.

Anna is waiting for her. She hopes. Surely Anna hasn't already forgotten her, or doesn't want her to visit again yet. Echo will keep a distance and observe.

When she surfaces, the lighthouse greets her, spinning its brightness through the fog. Anna's window is illuminated, shaking an excited tremble through Echo's whole body.

If Anna knows Echo watched her from there, she knows leaving the light on would catch her attention. It's an invitation.

Echo scans her surroundings quickly before she leaves the water, rushing up the side of the lighthouse. Her tentacles dry out quickly, so she doesn't waste time getting to the window.

She's breathing rough and deep from excitement.

Calm down, Echo.

But she can't, because she's at the window now. And Anna's there. She's naked in the bath.

A smile inches across Echo's face.

Anna lies on her back and watches the open window. Echo doesn't know if she can see her face peeking around the opening. Human eyes are so weak at seeing in the dark.

Anna's blonde hair drapes her shoulders, splaying the water's surface like spilled oil. Her plump lips are parted slightly, like they're mumbling whispers to the night.

Her chest rises and falls slowly. Echo learned the word tits from the books Anna brought for her, and now she knows they're a significant sexual item for humans. Echo's pointed ears perk, and her heart flutters at Anna's voice. Her tentacles are splayed to hold her to the wall, and she tightens her grip to press her slit against the cold metal.

Anna pumps her fingers into herself faster, lifting her hips higher and humping the air. Echo bites back a whimper. Anna quirks her hips and exposes the delicate pink folds in her most intimate area.
